KABUL, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan Film, the state-run film producing company, has screened two recently-made documentaries at its headquarters on Sunday, a local news agency reported on Monday.

The two films were said to be the first batch of works produced by Afghan Film since the Taliban took over the power of the country last year, according to Bakhtar News Agency (BNA).

The screened films titled "Salang" and "Company Bridge" were made during the past seven months, showing the reconstruction and repair of the Salang Pass and Company Bridge, a bridge in western edge of Kabul city, the state-run news agency said.

Mawlavi Jawed Afghan, the Afghan Film director, said "We are trying to have entertainment programs to draw the attention of foreigners toward Afghanistan to visit the country and get knowledge of what has happened over the last decades of war in Afghanistan."

Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture of the Taliban-run caretaker administration, has urged filmmakers to produce films based on the demands of the audience and in accordance with the needs of the Afghan society.

"Afghan Film's officials, employees and producers who make films should pay attention and find out: what are the needs of the society? On which topics do films and documentaries need to be produced?" Mujahid said, according to BNA.
