The twentieth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
Under the theme of "Integrate to Grow, Innovate to Prosper," APEC leaders
worked out clear strategies for the region's future, especially on promoting
trade and investment liberalization, fostering economic integration,
safeguarding food safety, building reliable supply chains and facilitating
innovative growth.
The nineteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The annual forum concluded with the leaders agreeing to The Honolulu
Declaration -- Toward a Seamless Regional Economy, which says: "In APEC
this year, we have committed to taking concrete steps toward a seamless
regional economy, in order to link our economies and markets ever closer
together, to the benefit of all."
The eighteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The leaders agreed a declaration, "The Yokohama Vision -- Bogor and
Beyon", resolving to develop a vast regional free trade zone, that connects
major economies such as the U.S., China and Japan, with some of the
fastest growing emerging economies, such as Mexico, Indonesia and Thailand.
The seventeenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
Focusing on trade issues, the leaders resolved to inject a strong political
push to conclude the Doha Round of WTO negotiations by the end of 2010.
APEC Leaders also reiterated their commitment to reject all forms of
protectionism and discussed on APEC's long-term vision of a Free Trade
Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP).
The sixteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The leaders issued a special statement on the financial crisis, vowing
to take action "individually and collectively" to restore confidence
in their economies and keep the region moving along the path of long-term
growth.
The fifteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
For the first time, APEC member economies issued a declaration on climate
change, energy security and clean development outlining future action
in support of a new international climate change arrangement and announcing
a forward program of practical, cooperative actions and initiatives.
The fourteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The leaders, after two days of discussions under the theme of " Towards
a Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity," reached
a consensus on a range of issues including advancing free trade and
investment, enhancing human security, and building stronger societies
and a more dynamic and harmonious community.
The thirteenth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
Under the theme of "Towards One Community: Meet the Challenge, Make
the Change," the leaders agreed to advance free trade, enhance human
security, prevent spread of avian influenza and revive the World Trade
Organization's Doha Development Agenda.
The twelfth APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The theme of the meeting was "One Community, Our Future." The leaders
adopted the Santiago Declaration aimed at supporting global trade talks,
improving global security and other issues.
The eleventh APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting
The theme of the meeting was "A world of Differences: Partnership for
the Future." The economic leaders adopted the " Bangkok Declaration
on Partnership for the Future," calling for restarting the Doha Round
of multilateral trade talks and enhancing human security through strengthened
and better coordinated anti-terror efforts.
