MOSCOW, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Eastern Military District began large-scale exercises on Monday in the country's Far East.
The week-long drills in the Trans-Baikal and Amur regions will involve more than 12,000 servicemen, up to 3,000 units of weapons and military equipment, about 60 planes and helicopters, and over 10 drones, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The forces aim to "demonstrate their expertise and knowledge in ensuring military security in Russia's east." The exercises are the final stage of the regions' winter training program, it added. Enditem
