ISTANBUL, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish subsidiary of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) was given lately the Outstanding Business award by the Global Business Excellence Awards 2021.
"The Global Business Excellence Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the world, which is valuable for us to receive," Gao Xiangyang, chairman of ICBC Turkey, said in a statement.
"For six years, we have been successfully conducting our financial operations in Turkey with a business model that includes commercial banking, retail banking, and investment banking," Gao said.
The Global Business Excellence Awards Jury President Ian Hughes said in a statement that ICBC Turkey has grown "tremendously" since it entered Turkey and expanded its services.
"ICBC Turkey brought a breath of fresh air to the Turkish banking industry and laid solid commercial relations between China and Turkey," Hughes was quoted as saying in the statement.
The Global Business Excellence Awards are an independent awards program not affiliated with any magazine or newspaper.
The ICBC is China's largest commercial bank and the world's largest bank by assets, while ICBC Turkey was established after the lender purchased a majority of shares of Turkey's Tekstilbank in May 2015 and has been licensed for commercial banking, investment banking, and asset management. Enditem
