MOSCOW, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Russia confirmed 168,201 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the highest daily rise to date, taking the nationwide tally to 12,452,765, the official monitoring and response center said Friday.
The nationwide death toll increased by 682 to 334,039, while the number of recoveries increased by 58,449 to 10,449,181.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 25,019 new cases, taking its total to 2,454,591.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that no new restrictive measures will be introduced, and the government does not plan to impose a lockdown. ■
