ANKARA, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish airstrike killed five members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
The PKK members were "neutralized" in Zap and Avashin regions by the Turkish Air Force in northern Iraq, the ministry tweeted.
Last week, Turkey launched airstrikes targeting the PKK positions in northern Iraq and Syria's Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) members in northern Syria.
The operation, dubbed "Winter Eagle," aimed at destroying shelters, bunkers, caves, tunnels, ammunition depots, headquarters and training camps, said the ministry. ■
