Explosion targets Iranian ambassador's residence in Libya

English.news.cn   2015-02-22 20:13:58

TRIPOLI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- A device exploded outside of the Iranian ambassador's residence in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Sunday, but no casualties were reported, according to a security source.

The device blew up at the gate of the ambassador's residence, causing material damage, but nobody was hurt, the source told Xinhua.

So far no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Since the forces of Libya Dawn took over Tripoli in last August, several embassies have been targeted in similar incidents, including those of Algeria, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.

In December 2014, unidentified gunmen broke into the residence of the Swiss ambassador in Tripoli, while the place was free of its occupants.
