TAIYUAN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- More than 70 students at a university in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, suffered from diarrhea and vomiting starting Wednesday, according to the university Sunday.
The disease control and prevention department in Taiyuan sampled 28 cases from the students for norovirus tests Wednesday and Saturday, and 11 cases tested positive, said the university sources.
As of 5 p.m. Sunday, a total of 22 patients, who suffered from diarrhea and vomiting caused by the virus and other factors, were still treated at the hospital.
The Shanxi University of Finance and Economics has carried out disinfections in dormitories, classrooms, canteens, and other public areas, and strengthened health education and symptom monitoring for all staff and students.
The local control and prevention authorities are investigating the source of infection. ■
