Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun says China strongly opposes the deployment of the 'THAAD' anti-missile system in South Korea.
The statement was as response to a question about China's concerns over the range of the THAAD system's radar system, and South Korea's announcement that the system would not have a large surveillance area in China.
"Regarding the deployment of the 'THAAD' anti-missile system in South Korea announced by the US and South Korea, we have made our stance quite clear that we are strongly dissatisfied and firmly oppose it. We will closely watch the related actions of the two countries, and consider the necessary actions to safeguard national strategic security and strategic balance in this region. As for the technical explanation they have given, industry professionals can easily assess their credibility," Yang said.
