RABAT, March 8 (Xinhua) -- A lawmaker was shot dead near his house in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, local media reported on Wednesday.
Abdellatif Merdas, 54, a lawmaker from the liberal Constitutional Union Party (UC), was killed late on Tuesday by three shots, Hespress news website said.
Merdas was killed on the spot after he was shot by two bullets in his face, while the third targeted his chest, the same source added.
Eyewitnesses said the attacker shot the lawmaker with a riffle from a foreign registered black car. An investigation has been launched.
