ADDIS ABABA, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The African Union (AU) has congratulated Botswana and Namibia on the successful signing of their boundary treaty on Monday in Windhoek, Namibia.
The signing of the treaty is the culmination of a process that began with the joint submission of a request to the AU Commission in August 2015, said an AU statement on Wednesday.
The 55-member African organization lauds the treaty an "excellent" example to all member states to positively approach border treaties and cross-border cooperation.
The signing not only strengthens the relations between Botswana and Namibia but also demonstrates the commitment of the two countries to facilitate the free movement of people and to transform their common border into a pole of development, said the statement.
