LAGOS, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's ruling party state governors are billed to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to deliberate on the 2019 election, a governor said Thursday.
Rochas Okorocha, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors' Forum, disclosed this to reporters in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
The APC governors had earlier attended the meeting of the Council of State, presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Party sources told Xinhua that tonight's meeting of the president with the APC governors was meant to convince Buhari on the need to seek re-election in 2019.
The meeting might be a follow-up to the Daura meeting which was held at the president's private residence last Friday.
The governor had said their mission was merely to condole with the president over the loss of two members of his extended family.
Okorocha dismissed media reports that their mission to Daura was aimed at convincing the president to seek re-election.
Nigeria is scheduled to hold general elections in February 2019.
