KIGALI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) will Friday send a contingent of 40 personnel to participate in a three-week Multinational Peace Support Operations Exercise in Bangladesh due from next week, the army said in a statement.

The exercise will run from Feb. 26 to Mar. 12, 2018, with the participation of 780 peacekeepers from 40 countries, said the statement released Thursday.

Codenamed "SHANTI DOOT 4", the exercise is aimed at building capacity of the armed forces of troops contributing countries in the UN peace operations and providing them with an opportunity to share natural cultural values, it said.

Rwanda Army Chief of Staff Jacques Musemakweli urged RDF officers and troops to reflect the force's values and be good ambassadors of the country during the multinational exercise.

The exercise is jointly organized by the U.S. Pacific Command, a unified combatant command of the United States Armed Forces responsible for the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, and U.S. Africa Command as well as Bangladesh as the host nation, according to the statement.

It will take place at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training at Rajendrapur Cantonment, central Bangladesh, said the statement.
