LUSAKA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Zambia said on Thursday it will not allow a controversial South African musician to enter the country as her idea of performing without panties was alien to the country's morals.
Zodwa Wabantu, the Durban-based singer and YouTube celebrity known for her skimpy dressing, was expected to join local musician Karasa at her album launch this month.
But Minister National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili said the singer will not be coming to Zambia.
She told reporters that the singer's idea of performing without panties does not stand well with the country's moral standing and that she did not apply in advance as required for all foreign artists.
Last year, authorities in Zimbabwe reportedly banned the socialite from performing at that country's Harare International Carnival unless she wore underwear.
