RABAT, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan Civil Defense Services and its Saudi counterpart conducted a high-magnitude earthquake simulation in Morocco's largest city of Casablanca on Wednesday.

Dubbed "SAMUTEX 18" (Saudi and Moroccan Usar Teams Exercise 2018), the simulation involves a continuous operational commitment of 36 hours and a mobilization of about 300 people.

Organized by the unit USAR Morocco and its Saudi counterpart SASART, the field exercise simulated the occurrence of a large-scale earthquake that devastated an urban area with high population density and caused considerable human and material damage.

The exercise was conducted in three sites, namely the School of Civil Protection in Casablanca, the former tea factory in Ain Sebaa and Casablanca Mohammed V Airport.
