RABAT, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan police arrested Thursday a Swiss national who was under an international arrest warrant for sexually exploiting minors.
According to a statement from the Moroccan police, the 58-year-old suspect was under an international arrest warrant over his alleged involvement in sexual exploitation of underage girls in his country of origin.
The arrest warrant was issued internationally by Interpol before the Moroccan judicial police managed to arrest him in Rabat, the statement noted.
He was remanded in custody and will be brought before the competent prosecutor's office, pending the examination of the extradition request made by the authorities of his country, it said.
The operation is part of the efforts to strengthen international security cooperation, particularly in the fight against all forms of cross-border crimes, the statement pointed out.
