RABAT, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Morocco and Serbia signed Wednesday two cooperation agreements in the areas of diplomatic training and culture.
These agreements were inked by the Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic, who is on a working visit to the North African kingdom.
They feature a memorandum of cooperation between the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies and the Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Serbia, and a program of cooperation in the fields of culture for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Bourita hailed the recent positive momentum in bilateral ties as evidenced by signing of new agreements, regular exchange of visits and the organization of several bilateral cultural events in the two countries.
He noted, however, that economic and trade cooperation do not match the expectations, potential and ambition of both countries, despite the strong political relations dating back to 70 years ago.
Bourita revealed that discussions are ongoing on visa exemption, stressing that these agreements will further cement bilateral ties.
Dacic said the talks represented an opportunity to agree on the holding of the second session of the Serbian-Serbian joint committee, insisting that the two sides agreed to hold it "in the shortest terms possible."
The holding of this committee will contribute to the development economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that this cooperation has great potential, particularly in the fields of agriculture, energy and new technologies.
The Serbian FM also said that Morocco will be the guest of honour at the International Book Fair in Belgrade.
