ENTEBBE, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has been selected to host the 2018 Africa Zone 5 International Handball Federation (IHF) Challenge Trophy.

"We are glad that the international body has once again selected us to host this event which will bring together about seven nations," Sheila Agonzibwa, President of the Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) told Xinhua on Thursday.

Agonzibwa said the competition which will include Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti will take place from May 13-20.

"We are looking at the possibility of having the event at Lugogo or at the Uganda Christian University, Mukono," she added.

She said the national men's team will be handled by Patrick Tabale and Ibra Kyaluze and the women by Orotin Jimmy and Angwech Flavia. Uganda hosted the same tournament in 2016.

"We need to try to get as many sponsors on board so that we can have our teams participate in several tournaments and get more exposure. We would like to play in the elite Africa Cup of Nations Handball Cup as well," she added.

This year, Tunisia won the 23rd Africa Cup of Nations Men's Handball Cup that was held in Libreville, Gabon.
