KABUL, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Fighting between security forces and the anti-government militants have claimed the lives of seven insurgents and injured three others in Afghanistan's eastern Laghman and Nuristan provinces, army spokesman in the eastern region, Shirin Aqa Faqiri said Friday.
The security forces, according to the official, came in contact with Taliban militants in Alishing district of the eastern Laghman province on Thursday and the militants after leaving five bodies behind fled the area.
Faqiri also asserted that the security forces attacked the militants' hideouts in Norgaram district of Nuristan province on Thursday, killing two insurgents and injuring three others.
Without providing information on possible casualties of security personnel, the official said that the operations against militants would continue elsewhere in the eastern region.
Taliban militatns who are active in both the restive Laghman and Nuristan provinces haven't commented.
