KHARTOUM, April 15 (Xinhua) -- A European Union (EU) official on Sunday said peace and stability in Sudan are priorities of dialogue between the EU and Sudan government.

Head of the EU Delegation to Sudan Jean-Michel Dumond on Sunday held talks in Khartoum with Sudan's Presidential Assistant Faisal Hassan Ibrahim.

Dumond told reporters that the talks reviewed bilateral ties, cooperation between the sides and the peace process and political development in Sudan.

He said he briefed the Sudanese presidential assistant on EU's efforts to support the development aid operation in Sudan, particularly in Darfur, issues of refugees and food security.

Sudan and the EU have been maintaining close cooperation in many fields, including combating terrorism and illegal immigration.

The high-level dialogue between Sudan and the EU started in February 2016 with the aim to address the reasons behind instability in Sudan, support development and issues of illegal immigration and human trafficking.
