TRIPOLI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Libyan security on Sunday found the body of a local bank manager kidnapped by gunmen later in April near the city of Sabha, some 800 km southwest the capital Tripoli, according to a security source.
"The security services found the body of bank manager Saleh Ibrahim dumped on the road between Bint Baya town and the city of Murzuq, after he was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen later last month," the source told Xinhua.
The source confirmed that "the victim was tortured in different places in his body, and gunshot wounds were found in the body."
"The bank manager was kidnapped for ransom. His family could not pay the ransom to have him released," the source said.
Unidentified gunmen kidnapped the manager of Jumhouria Bank of Bint Baya town from his farm near Sabha later in April.
The city of Sabha, the largest city in southern Libya, suffers high levels of crimes and kidnappings, as well as tribal clashes.
