Angola and DRC relations excellent: envoy

LUANDA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Angola, Gustave Beya Siku, said here on Friday DRC and Angola had quite profitable cooperation relations.

The Congolese diplomat was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with the Angolan Head of State, Joao Lourenco, to whom he bade farewell at the end of his two and a half years diplomatic mission in the Republic of Angola.

In a reference to the good relationship between the two presidents, he said that both Joao Lourenco and Joseph Kabila have maintained continuous consultations on matters related to the southern and central African regions and to bilateral cooperation.

"There is no atmosphere of disagreement or friction between Angola and DRC," said the ambassador, emphasizing that the two heads of state work in mutual will aiming to strengthen cooperation relations more and more.

Regarding the holding of elections in December this year in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he said that they would be held according to the memorandum of understanding between the Congolese political parties and other individuals of the international community.

Concerning trade with Angola, Gustave Siku valued the start-up of the Benguela railroad (Lobito corridor) that will benefit the DRC a lot.

Recently, 50 train carriages transported DRC mines to Lobito Port, with a view to exporting them abroad by sea.

last Saturday, the Angolan president, Joao Lourencoc told Euronews that Angola will continue doing its best so as to assist the authorities and people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to live in harmony and a unique environment that prompts the development of this country.

He said that DRC shares over 2,500 km border with Angola. For this reason, Angola wants to keep stability in this neighboring country.
