KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Militants' attack on a security checkpoint in Arghandab district of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province claimed the lives of 13 policemen on Sunday, an official said on the condition of anonymity.
"A group of Taliban rebels stormed a security checkpoint in Nehgan area of Arghandab district early in the morning, killing 13 police personnel," the official told Xinhua but refused to be identified.
An official from the police department in Kandahar city has also confirmed the deadly incident but didn't provide details.
Previously, a similar attack on security forces claimed the lives of 17 security personnel in Shindand district of the western Herat province on Friday night.
