RABAT, June 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 3.37 million tourists visited Morocco between January and April 2018, a 12-percent increase year on year, according to data from the Moroccan Tourism Ministry released on Wednesday.
International tourist arrivals jumped by 19 percent, while Moroccans living abroad visiting their homeland rose by one percent, the statistics show.
This growth was mainly driven by the continuous increase of arrivals from traditional European markets.
The statistics show an increase of 18 percent in Italian tourists, 14 percent in German tourists and 11 percent in French visitors.
From January to April, tourism revenues reached 2.11 billion U.S. dollars, 18 percent higher from a year ago.
In 2017, Morocco registered a record of 11.35 million tourist arrivals, 10 percent more than 2016.
