UN forum in Morocco to discuss reforming governance, public administration

RABAT, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Public Service Forum opened Thursday in the Moroccan city of Marrakech to discuss means to help governments become more effective, inclusive and accountable.

Entitled "Transforming Governance to Realize Sustainable Development Goals," the forum aims to contribute to developing the capability of governments to anticipate the various challenges posed by the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

It provides an opportunity for ministers and other senior decision makers to discuss how to transform governance and innovate the way governments, institutions and public administrations are organized and work to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants will debate emerging issues and trends, as well as good practices, strategies and approaches to transform governance and reform public administration.

The event will benefit from the innovative practices of the 2018 winners of the UN Public Service Awards, who will be recognized during the awarding ceremony on the last day of the forum.

This three-day forum is organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in partnership with the Moroccan Ministry of Administration and Civil Service Reform.
