RABAT, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The number of passengers travelling in Moroccan airports reached 8.8 million between January and May 2018, up 10.8 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Monday.
Morocco's biggest airport, Casablanca International Airport, received 3.7 million passengers, up 3.2 percent year on year, according to ONDA.
The number of passengers in the airports of the tourist hubs of Agadir and Marrakech increased by 20.4 percent and 25.9 percent, respectively.
In April, over 1.7 million people travelled through Moroccan airports, down 1.8 percent from the same month last year, according to ONDA.
The decrease was attributed to the holy month of Ramadan, which usually sees fewer travels, the same source said.
In 2017, the air traffic in Morocco grew 11.63 percent from 2016 to reach a record high of over 20.35 million people.
