TUNIS, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian National Women Union (UNFT) on Thursday lauded China's Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, while pledging to strengthen its cooperation with China.
UNFT President Radhia Jerbi said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua that "a new political strategy of our country" should not turn its back on a power like China.
At the invitation of UNFT, a delegation of Chinese Women's Development Foundation will visit Tunisia from June 30 to July 7 to introduce the benefits and opportunities generated by the B&R Initiative.
Proposed by China in 2013, the initiative aims to build a trade and infrastructure network that connects Asia with Africa and Europe along the trade routes of the ancient Silk Road.
"This visit is a part of the cooperation between UNFT and our Chinese counterparts," said Jerbi. "China has strong potential in the economic fields, and we are working to establish and develop closer cooperation."
The cooperation could cover areas such as health, vocational training, textiles, medicinal plants as well as distillation of plants, Jerbi said.
