BERLIN, July 1 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday that she was not sure whether the dispute on asylum policy with her Bavarian ally can be solved, despite a European solution has been reached during the EU summit.

However, Merkel said in an interview with German broadcaster ZDF that she would do everything to ensure that there are results for both Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) "in which we can take responsibility for our country."

The Merkel-led CDU is in a dispute with its Bavarian ally CSU on the asylum policy, as Horst Seehofer, CSU chairman and German Interior Minister, wanted to unilaterally turn back refugees already registered in other EU member states, while Merkel opposed it and hoped to find a European solution.

State and government leaders of EU states on Friday reached an agreement on common asylum policy, which Merkel believed satisfied CSU's ultimatum two weeks earlier.

Merkel on Saturday evening held talks with Seehofer, and on Sunday CSU is holding meeting to decide whether they accept Merkel's European solution or not.

"We have pretty good results," Merkel said on ZDF, referring to her meeting with Seehofer, adding that the two allies only fought over the way rather than the target, which is to reduce migration to Europe.
