DAR ES SALAAM, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's national flag carrier Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) on Wednesday revealed its plan to introduce five new routes in the domestic market in the next two years.
Ladislaus Matindi, the ATCL CEO, said the airline was operating 10 routes starting from the commercial city Dar es Salaam to Dodoma, Mwanza, Mbeya, Songea, Tabora, Kigoma, Bukoba, Mtwara and the Comoros.
"New flight destinations will be Iringa, Mpanda, Tanga and Shinyanga," Matindi told a news conference at the ongoing 42nd Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair.
He said the newly delivered Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was expected to start flying to domestic destinations in three weeks' time after the fleet crew has undergone the necessary aviation training.
The purchase of the 262-passenger capacity plane brings to four the number of brand new aircraft that have been bought by the government in efforts to revive the national airline.
