Egypt's Sisi reiterates support for Sudan's effort to achieve peace in S. Sudan

KHARTOUM, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Thursday reiterated his country's support for Sudan's efforts to achieve peace in South Sudan, official SUNA news agency reported.

Sisi made the remarks following talks with his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir at the presidential palace in Khartoum on Thursday evening.

He said Egypt is seeking to achieve peace in the region as the stability in the region is an integral part of the stability of Egypt.

He further noted that his visit to Sudan is of special importance to all Egyptian people.

He said that the two countries have overcome all barriers and agreed on projects in electricity linkage, cooperation and coordination, stressing that his country would continue to support the efforts and remove all barriers between Egypt and Sudan.

The Egyptian president also expressed delight over the agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea to resolve differences between them.

Sisi, heading a delegation including several ministers, arrived in Khartoum Thursday for an official two-day visit to Sudan.
