TRIPOLI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Libyan navy on Sunday denied accusations from a Spanish non-government organization of ignoring the rescue of a female immigrant and recovery of two immigrants' bodies on board a wrecked boat off Libyan coast.

"Unfortunately, we have followed up the claims of the Spanish non-governmental organization (NGO) Proactiva Open Arms on July 17, 2018, " the navy's information office said in a statement.

"The NGO accuses the Libyan coast guards of abandoning a live woman and the bodies of a woman and a child on a broken boat of illegal immigrants," it added.

"It is not surprising because the accusation came from an organization that over the past years has not been friendly to us surprisingly, but only searches for pretexts and arguments to accuse the navy and coast guards especially," the statement said.

The navy "categorically" denied the Spanish organization's accusations, saying that "this violates our religious, moral and humanitarian values. "

"We consider the organization's accusations nothing but false and part of the systematic campaign launched by NGOs, including this one, on the coast guards that they consider an opponent," said the navy.
