Morocco, U.S. discuss means to promote peace, stability in Africa

RABAT, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Morocco's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mounia Boucetta discussed Wednesday in Rabat with Robert Karem, U.S. assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, means to promote peace and stability in Africa.

During this meeting, the two officials hailed the excellent military and security cooperation between the two countries, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Moroccan minister highlighted Morocco's mediation efforts in solving and avoiding crises in several African countries, the same source noted.

She also voiced her country's support to U.S. initiatives and efforts to ensure peace and security in Africa, it added.

Karem leads a large delegation on a two-day working visit to Morocco.

On Tuesday, the U.S. official held a meeting with Abdeltif Loudyi, Moroccan minister delegate for national defense, during which they vowed to further strengthen bilateral security cooperation.
