KINSHASA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- At least five people died on Friday morning after an Antonov aircraft crashed in central Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to local authorities on the spot.

The plane, belonging to Air Kasai, was flying from the city of Tshikapa in Kasai province to the border areas with Angola.

According to the assistant administrator of Tshikapa territory, Anacletus Muswa Kapinga Safia, the plane crashed 3 kilometers from Kamako, Kasai, and caught fire.

This crash is the second in a month in Tshikapa after that of a small PAM carrier, which caused a few casualties.

The province of Kasai with the capital Tshikapa is one of five provinces that make up the Grand-Kasai area, which was shaken last year by armed conflict between the militia Kamuina Nsapu and government forces.
