WINDHOEK, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Namibia finished with the bronze medal after a 2-1 win on Sunday over hosts Mauritius in the third place play-off of the 2018 Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Under-17 Championship.

Angola were crowned winners of the event after beating South Africa in Sunday's final in Port Louis, claiming their first regional title at this age-group level.

Os Palanquinhas became the fifth side to lift the COSAFA Under-17 Championship trophy after two-time winners South Africa, and Malawi, Namibia and Zambia.

Angola will now represent the region at the 2019 African Under-17 Championships in Tanzania, where they hope to use that opportunity to qualify for the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Peru.

Meanwhile, Namibian striker Prins Tjiueza claimed the tournament's Golden Boot after he netted six goals throughout the competition.

This year's COSAFA Under-17 Championship featured 12 teams for the first time ever, and was staged in association with the Confederation of African Football and the UEFA Assist program.

The next tournament to be held in southern Africa will be the COSAFA Women's Championship in South Africa from August 26 to September 6.
