COPENHAGEN, July 30 (Xinhua) -- July 2018 is already the sunniest July in Danish weather history, although there are still two days left of the month, Denmark's Meteorological Institute (DMI) said in a statement on Monday.
"The total number of sun hours is actually so high that July 2018 with two days back, is already the sunniest July," said the statement.
"Even last Sunday, Denmark has received 326 hours of sunshine on a national level in July. Record from 2006 was 321 hours, so we've already hit it," said the climate scientist John Cappelen in the statement.
Cappelen expects to add another 12 hours of sunshine for accounting over the next two days in July 2018. Thus, the month will end at 338 hours of sunshine.
"338 hours in 31 days means that we have had 10 hours and 54 minutes of sunshine a day. By comparison, the normal sunshine in July is 196 hours or 6 hours and 19 minutes per day," the statement added.
DMI's measurement of sunshine dates back to 1920.
