LJUBLJANA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Budget carrier EasyJet on Thursday launched its seasonal scheduled flights between Ljubljana and Berlin to meet the increasing demands on the market.

EasyJet, a London-based British low-cost carrier airline, is designed to operate three round-trip flights weekly between the Slovenian and German capitals from Aug. 2 until Nov. 10, and if the service turns out to be profitable, it will make it a year-round destination, according to the airport manager Fraport Slovenija.

Fraport Slovenija Executive Janez Krasnja said at a press conference on Thursday that the airport was counting on a significant increase in passengers on the route, in particular in the tourist segment.

Krasnja expressed the hope that more carriers would add Ljubljana to their route map in future, as Spain, Italy and Scandinavia in particular are poorly served from Slovenia.

EasyJet operates domestic and international scheduled services on over 820 routes in more than 30 countries.
