PRAGUE, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- In recent days, the Czech Republic experienced extremely above-average high temperatures, with Mlada Boleslav, Nymburk and Cologne being the hottest part of the Czech Republic on Saturday.

The drought in the country continues. Many Czech mayors have issued a ban on using tap water to fill swimming pools and water gardens. Regional governors are counting the costs of the drought and preparing to ask for state compensation.

More people died on Czech roads in July, and high temperatures also occurred in a number of accidents, said Tomas Nerold, head of Czech BESIP (safty operation of traffic). According to Nerold, drivers are more tired for the heat and could not hold attention. In July, 53 people died in traffic accident, according to the police statistics, eight more than last year.

Hot weather also caused deaths of a large number of fish in Czech. Meteorologists also warned the risk of fires due to the heat.

The high temperatures will continue in Czech in the next weeks, according to the weekly forecast published by Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI).
