MINSK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian Foreign Ministry on Monday strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry named the assassination attempt a barbaric and appalling act of terrorism.

"The assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Aug. 4, which resulted in seven people being injured, is a barbaric and appalling act of terrorism," the ministry said in a statement published on Monday.

On Saturday, Maduro escaped unharmed from an attempted attack of explosive drones during his speech to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the country's National Guard.

"The use of such hideous methods in politics will never be tolerated by Belarus. We will never accept any manifestations of terrorism and violence," the statement said.

Only the people of Venezuela and only through peaceful dialogue within the legal framework and the Constitution can determine the ways to address complicated situations and methods to settle disagreements in the Venezuelan society, the ministry said.
