MOSCOW, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- NATO's military capability, including nuclear triad, is targeting Russia, said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday.

"Whatever our colleagues from the alliance say, NATO countries still regard Russia as potential adversary. And it is quite obvious that their military capability, including the nuclear triad, is targeting Russia," Medvedev told Russian newspaper Kommersant.

Such capabilities can cause "colossal" damage, and Russia should understand how to confront these forces, said the prime minister.

Moscow has accused NATO of boosting its military presence in east Europe, including increasing military contingents in the Baltic states, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.

Russia has also complained that NATO is actively improving its transport infrastructure and deploying missile defense systems in the region.
