PARIS, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Twelve French nationals were injured in the powerful earthquake that rocked Indonesia's tourist island of Lombok, the French Foreign ministry said Tuesday in a statement.

The ministry statement said 12 French people suffered slight injuries with one of them hospitalized.

"The situation of French nationals who are still in Lombok and in the Gili Islands is followed by our embassy and the Crisis and Support Center," it said.

"Agents from consular network are present at the Lombok airport, and in the coming hours at Bali, to provide consular assistance to the French (nationals)," it added.

After a 7.0-magnitude quake jolted Lombok Island in central Indonesia, the ministry called on French citizens to postpone travel to Lombok and Gili Islands and check its travelers advice.

According to Indonesian authorities, 105 people had lost their lives and 236 others were wounded so far in the earthquake.

Indonesia sees frequent quakes as it sits on a vulnerable quake-prone zone of "the Pacific Ring of Fire".
