YANGON, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities sent a total of 18,954 migrant workers to foreign countries in July, the state-run Mirror reported Friday.
During the period, about 16,307 workers were sent to neighbouring Thailand while 1,871 to Malaysia, 436 to Japan and the rest to South Korea, Singapore, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.
Meanwhile, the authorities offered local employment to over 23,000 workers in the country's regions and states last month.
Under the management by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, both local and foreign employment are being offered to the workers via new online labour exchange management system.
