Mongolia names new transport vice minister after train mishap

ULAN BATOR, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian Government on Wednesday announced the appointment of a new vice minister of road and transport development.

Luvsan Khaltar replaces Bat Tsogtgerel, who was fired following a train derailment early Sunday. There were no fatalities though nine of some 300 passengers sustained injuries.

Khaltar was a rail engineer and former deputy director of Ulan Bator Railway.

Road and Transport Development Minister Jadamba Bat-Erdene was also fired. But his successor has not yet been named.
