PARIS, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have discussed regional crises, mainly violence escalation in Gaza and the situation in Libya where continued political instability threw a spanner into European Union's plan to curb migrants flows.

According to a press release issued by the Elysee on Thursday, the two presidents discussed by telephone the necessity of de-escalation and humanitarian support for Gaza.

"Macron praised the Egyptian efforts to advance inter-Palestinian reconciliation, to secure a truce in Gaza and to improve humanitarian access," it added.

As to the conflict in Libya, Macron and al-Sisi recalled the need to unite the country's security forces and the mobilization of all Libyan factions to prepare for election at the year-end.
