U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.

The Dow was up 1.58 percent to 25,558.73, and the S&P 500 rose 0.79 percent to 2,840.69, while the Nasdaq increased 0.42 percent to 7,806.52.
