BERLIN, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A German citizen was indicted of being a member of "Taliban" and of attempted joint murder, the German Federal Prosecutor General announced on Friday.

The 37-year-old German citizen, Thomas K., traveled to Pakistan in Aug. 2012 and joined the "Taliban", according to the indictment.

As of August 2013, the terrorist organization used the accused in one of their suicide bomb attack units.

The accused participated in the production and manufacture of explosives, the exploration of possible targets and other logistical tasks, the indictment said, adding Thomas K. also prepared himself for carrying out his own suicide attack.

In addition, the accused also produced a propaganda video for the "Taliban" which should be directed to like-minded people in Germany.

In spring 2017, the accused moved to the "Taliban" special unit "Red Unit" in Helmand. Again, he participated in the construction of explosive devices and in the planning of suicide attacks.

The accused was arrested in February 2018 during a military operation by Afghan security authorities. He was transferred to Germany in April and has since been in custody.
