SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A man from the west U.S. state of Oregon has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for child sex abuse after he was brought back from China, an Oregon TV news outlet reported Friday.

Toby Mendenhall, 41, pleaded guilty to first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and has been booked into the Washington County jail on charges of sex abuse, the Portland, Oregon-based KATU TV channel said.

Mendenhall was probed in June 26 after police were tipped that he may have been sexually abusing multiple children.

By Oct. 25, 2017, investigators have known that four victims had come forward to report Mendenhall's crime.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mendenhall on Dec. 2, 2016 for two counts of first-degree sodomy and eight counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

He was found to have fled to China, and police managed to locate him in Shanghai, the metropolitan city in eastern China.

Mendenhall was eventually brought back from China due to the cooperation between China and U.S. police authorities.
