Moroccan airports carry 12.5 mln passengers in first 7 months of 2018

RABAT, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The number of passengers travelling through Moroccan airports reached 12.5 million during the first seven months of 2018, up 11.82 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Monday.

Between January and July, 5.4 million passengers travelled through Morocco's largest airport, the Mohammed V airport, representing some 47 percent of the total number of the passengers, ONDA statistics show.

Meanwhile, the Marrakech-Menara airport registered 2.9 million passengers, while Al Massira airport in the city of Agadir recorded over one million passengers.

In July alone, Morocco's airports posted an air traffic volume of more than two million passengers, compared to 1.9 million in the same month of 2017.

In 2017, air traffic in Morocco grew 11.63 percent to a record high of more than 20.35 million people.
