WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump's former longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen was widely expected to tentatively plead guilty to criminal charges on Tuesday, multiple media outlets reported.

Cohen was scheduled to appear in the federal district court in Manhattan, New York City at 4:00 p.m. local time.

He is likely to have reached a tentative plea deal involving possible campaign-finance violations, bank fraud and other crimes, media outlets quoted sources familiar with the matter as saying.

It remains unclear if the former Trump lawyer is committed to cooperating with the ongoing Special Counsel Robert Mueller probe over the alleged Russian meddling into the 2016 U.S. general elections.
