TOKYO, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Wednesday as investors took a wait-and-see approach ahead of U.S.-China trade related talks and the results of the U.S. Federal Reserve's annual symposium later this week.

As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 46.51 points, or 0.21 percent, from Tuesday to 22,173.22.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 0.60 points, or 0.04 percent, at 1,684.82.

Information and communication, pulp and paper, and air transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
