BRATISLAVA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Slovak Police caught human traffickers trying to smuggle a migrant from Ukraine to Slovakia by a Rogallo wing hang glider, Slovak Police Corps spokesperson Denisa Baloghova confirmed on Friday.

"Police discovered an unauthorized crossing of the external Schengen border by a two-seater engine-powered Rogallo above Matovske Vojkovce in eastern Slovakia. A car was parked in the meadow with two individuals inside. They turned on the car lights to enable a safe landing for the Rogallo. Once the Rogallo touched down, however, police intervened and four men were caught," said Baloghova.

Two Ukrainian nationals now face charges of human trafficking and illegal crossing of the state border. A third man, Mohamed W. of Afghanistan, who was illegally smuggled to Slovak soil, has been returned to Ukraine under the readmission agreement. The fourth man, a Slovak national, is currently facing legal procedures. If found guilty, the defendants might face between three and eight years in jail.
